The Library of University of Évora

2017.03.13 Colégio do Espírito Santo

Last weeks, I have been at the main Library of University of Évora researching for some papers that I will be reading during April in the Azores. This photo is the view I have from my desk near a window of the main cloister of the Colégio do Espírito. This is a great view, of this sixteenth-century Jesuit institution that is now the central building of the University

The late-afternoon light is amazing, especially when you are researching early-seventeenth-century vocal polyphony. At the right is one of the most important sources for the history of the Azores islands, which will be one of the focus of two papers I will read in Ponta Delgada (Unviversity of the Azores), São Miguel island and São Jorge islands.
