Edition of Duarte Lobo’s “Magnificat Secundi Toni”

Edition of the even verses of the Magnificat Secundi Toni (for SATB with the “sicut erat” for SSAATB) by Portuguese composer Duarte Lobo (c.1566-1646) I prepared for Edições MPMP. The work appears in Lobo’s Cantica Beatae Mariae Virginis, printed in Antwerp in 1605. Lobo published 16 polyphonic versions of the Magnificat, 2 for each of the eight tones, with one version using the odd verses and another using the even verses.

The Magnificat Secundi Toni was published with number 25 in the Polyphonia series of Portuguese polyphonic music of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries edited by the Movimento Patrimonial pela Música Portuguesa.
