Medieval Manuscripts

Medieval BookFollowing the contributions for World Book Day that is celebrated today, I’m sharing an excerpt from a BBC 4 documentary on the illumination of medieval manuscripts. More than mere books, these were seen as treasures, not only because of the decoration using gold leaf and  lapis lazuli, but also because they represented a new world full of images and extravagant depictions for the reader.
