I’ll be singing tomorrow (June 2), 18:00, with Ensemble Mensurable at Marvão’s Castle. Our concert is the final event of the opening of two new commercial establishments within the castle. We will be performing our programme “Songs from 16th-Century Secular Europe” together with some Portuguese sacred polyphony featuring new works by Duarte Lobo (c.1566-1646) and Estêvão Lopes Morago (c.1575-c.1630) and secular music by Thomas Morley, John Bennet, Josquin des Près, Francisco Guerrero and Mateo Flecha “El Viejo”.
This is a special concert because the last time I was in this village in Alentejo was 13 years ago. It is quite a beautiful village and it’s very well preserved.
